22 Kids and Counting fans have expressed concern for Sue and Noel Radford’s Morecambe home after the couple gave a sneak peek at the decorating they’ve been doing.

The parents of Britain’s largest family had wanted to leave their vast Morecambe home earlier this year but changed course after a deal fell through, forcing them to stay put.

The elder Radford clan member explained to fans on social media earlier this year: “No[the move]fell through and we’ve decided we don’t want to be paying a mortgage until we’re in our 60s – we’re too old now.”

“I believe everything happens for a reason and I’m very pleased that he’s now taken it off the market.”

The Radfords found a new, larger, renovated farmhouse, but despite missing out on it, they were determined to renovate their existing home anyway.

On Wednesday, they posted a video to their Facebook page sharing the latest progress on the renovations as they worked on the paint job.

“I just cut in and went around the grey because the grey had dirty handprints and all this stuff in it and I was just going to redo it again,” the mother of 22 begins in the video.

As she gave us a tour of the house, she continued, “Noel explained that he wanted to create an eye-catching wall in this area.

“We painted one side[of the boys’ room]blue. That needs to be fixed,” she said, walking into the room where her husband was working. “I don’t like this room,” he said.

“I said I was starting out in a makeshift room but it was a pain because it was so small and I couldn’t move,” he joked, while his wife reassured him, “But it looks better and it’s fresher.”

Showing off the pen marks the kids had left all over the wall, the Channel 5 star commented: “Clearly we do this with pens.”

She then moved to one of the girls’ rooms and explained, “It could use a little paint and look a lot nicer and fresher, so I’m going to feed the kids and then I’ll come back and tidy up this room.”

Later in the video, Noel controlled the camera to show his partner painting in bright pink, but their approach quickly caught the attention of bewildered fans.

Several people witnessed the couple carrying out painting work without any protective measures, risking damage to other parts of the house.

Confused fans quickly flooded the comments section with feedback, with one saying: “Why don’t people just put down tarps and masking tape? Why don’t they just throw paint and glue and polish everywhere? Why do they decorate their dream homes like this when they’re just going to be renting to older people to live in?”

“Is it dangerous to paint without a dust sheet to protect the carpet or should I replace it?” a second concerned follower asked.

“Do you guys not use dust sheets or tape?” another commented, while a fourth added: “You should have called in a professional decorator.”

“Where’s the carpet protection!” raged a fifth, while a sixth was confused: “I don’t know about the rest of you but I’ve always done the ceilings and polish before the walls.”

This advice did not seem to deter the Radfords, and they continued to work with caution.

The pair and their extended family will no doubt be showing off their new looks in new episodes of Channel 5’s 22 Kids and Counting.
