A huge number of tickets remained unsold hours before the event started.

It was hosted by a private company rather than the soap itself, and promised fans they’d hear “stories, secrets and more” from the two actors.

A live auction of autographed memorabilia was also scheduled to be held to raise funds for local charities on the island.

Standard tickets were offered for £29.50, while special VIP tickets, which included a meet-and-greet with the stars themselves and a great show, were sold for £59.

However, with only hours left until the show, many tickets remained unsold, an embarrassing failure for the organizers.

The 425-seat theater still had 286 tickets sold, leaving vast swaths of the audience empty for the event.

And even VIP tickets, which promised an up-close-and-personal experience and a chance to take photos with the stars, were not sold out.

A source said: “It’s a truly embarrassing situation and something is clearly very wrong.

“Corrie remains one of the most-watched shows on TV every week and Mikey and Ryan are two of the show’s most popular stars.

“They are professional and will provide a great time for the fans in attendance, but it is definitely unexpected that so many tickets remain unsold.”

Coronation Street’s Gary Windass betrays Maria Connor and goes on a mission to destroy evidence

He added: “A few years ago Mikey came to Canada with Millie Gibson on the Corrie tour and it was a packed house the entire time.

“Whatever happened here, the boys should not be blamed.
