Josie Gibson broke down in tears during a heartbreaking segment about grief on This Morning on Tuesday.
The host was joined by co-star Craig Doyle, distressed aunt Deirdre Saunders and Annabelle Croft, who lost her husband last year, who offered advice on coping with grief while fielding calls from viewers.
In one phone call, grieving mother Shelley struggled to control her emotions and detailed her life after her teenage daughter died at the age of 19 after an illness.
Josie could be seen calmly dabbing her eyes as Sherry explained this. She said: “She is truly heartbroken and every day is so hard. She has been so brave and wonderful throughout her two year illness.
“I just go to her room every night and say good morning and good night, but I don’t know how to deal with it.”
Josie is co-hosting This Morning this week after posting about the “drama” and “disrespect” she received after being belittled by Cat Deeley.
On Friday, Kat, 47, and Ben Shepherd, 49, were announced as the new permanent hosts of This Morning.
They are scheduled to debut next month.follow the exit of holly willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
Last month, Josie addressed speculation about her future after fans questioned whether she had left the show. She wrote on Instagram: “Dear lovers, just to confirm, I am not leaving this morning.
“I’m often asked why I quit, so I thought it would be easier to clear up the rumors here. I’m forever grateful for everyone’s love and support, and I can’t express my gratitude enough.”
But during her hiatus from This Morning, Josie posted a number of cryptic posts, including thoughts on taking space away from “drama.”
She posted a quote on her Instagram Story that said, “The older I get, the more I choose peace over conflict and distance over disrespect.”
“Drama becomes intolerant to you and your peace becomes your top priority. Start surrounding yourself with people who are good for your mental health, heart, and soul.”
Shortly after uploading the post, the mother-of-one quickly removed the quote from her page.
Officials said got it!: “Josie hides her heart and sometimes does a knee-jerk reaction without thinking, like posting on social media. And then she thinks about it.”
“She was probably hoping that after Holly left, she would come out of the jungle and be automatically chosen for the top job on This Morning. But ITV still tries people. Josie has turned her back on the drama and is hurt by Holly’s departure this morning.
Last month, insiders revealed that Kat and Ben had been scooped up for the coveted role of permanent hosts following the departure of stalwart stars Holly and Phil.
Kat wants Rylan Clarke as co-host rather than Ben, allowing him to take up a role on This Morning from Monday to Thursday and continuing his £344,000-a-season role on the American dance show. It is said that “no special treatment will be given.”
A source revealed: “Kat will not receive any special treatment…she will definitely not be given time off to film the next series of So You Think You Can Dance.” . So she has to make a decision, it’s one or the other. ”
Catt was said to have “really wanted the job” but had concerns about how she would juggle it with her husband Patrick Keelty’s time in Ireland.
The source continued: “Kat has told friends that she would like to do the job ‘if available’.” But she also feared that Patrick’s commitment to his activities in Ireland was making it very difficult for him to get the job. She really, really wanted to do it with Rylan too. ”
