Love Island receives greater than 1,500 complaints after contestant Danny Bibby allowed in villa


Love Island has acquired greater than 1,500 complaints following the inclusion of Danny Bibby as a contestant, after he used a racial slur on social media.The 25-year-old plumber and clothes model proprietor, from Wigan, reportedly used the n-word in an Instagram put up in 2019 which has since been deleted.
Broadcasting watchdog Ofcom confirmed it had acquired a complete of 1,507 complaints referring to the casting of a contestant within the ITV2 present.It acquired 1,081 concerning the episode on 15 July throughout which Danny was introduced as getting into the villa.An episode of Love Island on 18 July prompted 426 complaints to Ofcom.
Danny apologised final week in a press release issued through ITV.
It mentioned: “I would wish to take the time to apologise to anybody that will have taken offence to my inappropriate comment.
“I by no means meant something malicious by this remark in any respect. I’m not a racist individual and it is unacceptable language and ignorant.”I meant no offence and really feel like I’ve actually learnt from my errors and can by no means use that phrase once more.”I’m a sort loving individual and hopefully you get to see that within the present.”His assertion got here after his father Richard defended him, saying there have been “no racist intentions to this put up” and that it had been a “mistake” on his son’s half.
