At the age of 12, Ronan auditioned for the competition while his mother stood in the wings with Ant and Dec.

In an incredibly unexpected performance, Ronan delivered a powerful rendition of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good.”

However, despite being the bookmakers’ favourite to win the contest at the time, Scottish singer Jay McDowall went on to win.

And even years after that memorable performance, Ronan continues to pursue his passion alongside his influential career.

Ronan often shows off his fashion sense by sharing plenty of stylish photos with his 50,000 Instagram followers.

The Norfolk-born singer has released a number of singles and signed a record deal with Sony Music. They released their chart-topping self-titled debut album in 2011, which rocketed to number 22 on the charts.

He also released an anti-bullying Christmas hit and charity single in 2012.

As an adult, Ronan released a single called “No Love (Like First Love)” and an album called “Found My Way” in 2018.

In previous interviews, Ronan has spoken about the homophobic abuse he received online after coming out as gay during his time on BGT.

Looking back on his time on the show, he said:Looking back, there are a lot of things. Most of them were positive experiences, but some things that happened when I was younger I can look back on and say, “Oh, I was too young to do that.”

“It was hard being on social media. I was 12 and people were saying really negative things. It was always about my sexuality.”

“I never really talked about it. I was really young so there was no need to talk about it, but it was pretty much all the time and it was hard to deal with.”

“It’s nice to have that confirmed,” he told Gay Times. “It’s a relief to know that having spoken about it, I don’t have to worry and I can just be more myself and be authentic.”
