Commentator Steve Price said Tennis Australia turned the Australian Open into a “wake-up celebration” after introducing “mob ticket” prices on the tournament’s First Nations Day.
Tennis Australia offered First Nations people a $10 discount on ground passes on the third day of the international tournament.
“To make matters worse, Tennis Australia boss Craig Tiley admitted … there was no review to see if you were in fact Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander,” Price said.
“Absolute insanity – it would be funny if tennis ticket prices were split by race and it wasn’t so serious.”
