Halifax’s Last Tango: Ann Reed on the show’s possible return

BBC One has scrapped Halifax’s Last Tango, according to lead actor Anne Reid, who has confirmed the show won’t be returning.

The hit drama ran from 2012 to 2016, but returned for a fifth series in 2020, but no further episodes will be filmed.

Anne, 87, who played Celia Dawson on the program, recently appeared on Good Morning Britain to share the devastating news.

She continued to tease a special one-off episode during the festivities, but didn’t confirm if it would be this year.

When asked by Ed Boles about the show’s future, the actress revealed:

Season 5 of the fan-favorite show, which also starred Josh Bolt, aired in 2020 after a slight delay after writer Sally Wainwright struggled to find time to write the final season.
