Sports legend John Barnes has returned to the microphone for the first time in 34 years to release a new football-inspired song.

Across the continent, fans are in excitement as Euro 2024 kicks off on June 14th. Germany.

An 80s pop hit is set to be the unofficial theme song for the tournament, but a new song by a former footballer is expected to be an equally big hit.

Barnes, the beloved England footballer who later became a manager and pundit, has partnered with a plant-based food company. this We did a football-inspired song called “This is the One.”

The song is a medley of barbecue puns and football references, with Burns singing, “We’re the Barmy Army… can you hear us sing?”

“And this is it… now let’s bake it.”

In the video, a Gareth Southgate lookalike can be seen eating a burger, before Barnes takes over at the barbecue, grilling it up with great gusto.

The song talks about current team players such as Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, Paul Gascoigne and Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham.

The former Liverpool and England player took to the microphone 34 years after releasing his hit song “World in Motion” during England’s 1990 World Cup.

“World in Motion” was released by New Order and the 1990 England football team for their FIFA World Cup campaign.

It was a hit 30 years ago, with Barnes rapping on the song that later reached number one in the UK singles chart.

Speaking about the track with Diss, Barnes said the new song is a “win-win situation” and that “everyone loves a football anthem.”

“Every summer, everyone talks about barbecues, football and music! Everyone gets excited when we talk about barbecues. It’s a British tradition and of course football, because the Euros are on now, and everyone loves football anthems.”

“So when the opportunity arose to team up with This on a song that combined barbecue, football, music and environmentalism, it was truly a win-win situation.”

of The latest odds for the tournament see England currently the favourites to win, having finished second at Euro 2020 after losing to Italy.

Germany, France and Portugal are expected to perform well in the tournament and are likely to be the team’s main rivals.

England will play their first Euros match against Serbia on Sunday 16 June at 8pm.
