Warning: Spoilers for The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 4.
As many fans who have seen the Star Wars prequel films will no doubt know, Ahmed played none other than Jar Jar Binks in the trilogy.
It wasn’t Jar Jar who appeared in The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 4, but a character named Keleran Bek when Grog experienced flashbacks to his time spent in the Jedi Temple.
So who is Keleran and when else has Ahmed been seen in the Star Wars franchise?
Who is Keleran Bek?
Keleran Bek may have been unfamiliar to many Star Wars fans after seeing scenes of him in the latest episode of The Mandalorian, but he’s not exactly a new character.
The Jedi Master actually debuted in 2020, appearing in a web-based children’s game show called Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge.
Ahmed appeared as the show’s host and mentor to the participants.
In Season 3 Episode 4 of The Mandalorian, Keleran is Grog’s savior when the young one faces a clone trooper attack at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.
A siege is made as a result of Order 66. Order 66, an order declaring all Jedi traitors to the Galactic Republic, was directed by Chancellor Palpatine, leading to the creation of the Galactic Empire.
While several Jedi were killed trying to protect the youths in the Temple, Keleran managed to bring Grog back to safety and save his life by deftly fending off the clone troopers with his two lightsabers.
Has Ahmed Best ever been in Star Wars?
Ahmed is best known for playing Jar Jar Binks in the Star Wars prequels for providing the motion capture and voice performance of the Gungan character in the 1999 film Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. increase.
He reprized the role in the sequels Episode II – Attack of the Clones, published in 2002, and Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, published in 2005.
Ahmed went on to play Jar Jar in several TV shows, including the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Lego Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
Jar Jar isn’t the only character the actor has portrayed on-screen before Jedi Master Kelleran, though.
In Episode II, he made a special appearance as a human character named Ach Med-Bek in a scene set in the Outlander Club on Coruscant.
The sharing of surnames leads us to speculate that Achk and Kelleran are related, but it is understood that this has not yet been canonically confirmed.
The Mandalorian is available to watch on Disney Plus, with new episodes releasing on Wednesdays.
